Senator Spilka Hosts Celebration of 20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall

This Tuesday Senator Karen Spilka hosted a reception for “The Wall”, a photo exhibit by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Boston, commemorating the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
The fall of the Berlin wall marked the start of a new historical era. It signaled the end of the Cold War and the birth of a united Europe. It proved that peaceful change is possible, even when it seems most unlikely.
November 9, 2009 marke the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The exhibit provides an opportunity to reflect on what this historic event means for freedom and democracy everywhere. As such, Senator Spilka is honored to be hosting the exhibition, which will be on display November 9 through 13 (now extended until the 14th) in the Doric Hall in the State House.
The reception featured remarks by Senator Spilka and Friedrich Lohr, and the Consul General for the Federal Republic of Germany in Boston. For more information please visit www.Germany.info/withoutwalls.
