Draft Race to the Top Proposal Released for Public Comment

December 23, 2009

The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has released its Race to the Top Draft Proposal for federal education funds for public comment.   This is an excellent opportunity to join the conversation on our priorities for education funding moving forward.

In crafting your comments for DESE, here are some questions to think about:

  • Do you think the Massachusetts vision for students is compelling?  How would you improve it?
  • Which initiatives merit the greatest investment of Race to the Top dollars?  How would you improve them?
  • Do any initiatives concern you?  What would the state have to change to alleviate that concern?

As you read through the documents, please keep in mind that an LEA is a local education authority, which is a school district.  SEA is the state education authority, or the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

All comments are due no later than Monday, January 4, 2010 to rttt@doe.mass.edu.
