Small Grants Now Available for MW Families Caring for Loved Ones with Disabilities

September 23, 2011

The Advocates Family Alliance, a Framingham-based group, announced that they are awarding small grants to help families care for loved ones with developmental disabilities.

The Fred Gaspari Fund for Families provides small grants to MetroWest area families caring for a family member with disabilities, including autism. The family member must live at home with the family or independently in the community.

Grants of up to $500 are awarded for a variety of needs related to the family member’s care. Past grants have been awarded to help fund:

  • Summer camps
  • Assistive communication technology
  • Backyard fencing
  • Therapeutic dance classes
  • Equipment for in-home therapy rooms
  • And much more

The Advocates Family Alliance is now able to offer this program for the second time this year and expand the geographic scope of the program because of the generosity of the Brickley Family. They donated a portion of their proceeds from their second annual Jack Gives Back Charity Golf Scramble, hosted in honor of their son Jack who has autism.

Applications for these grants are being accepted now through Friday, October 21, 2011. The grant application is available to download here. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact Allie Reck at or by phone at (508) 628-6448.
