Senate President's statement on Maternal Health bill conference report
The following is a statement from Senate President Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland):
“Today, we are one step closer to addressing health disparities in perinatal care and improving maternal health outcomes for women of color in our Commonwealth. As a mother, I’m familiar with the feelings of excitement but also anxiety and uncertainty when it comes to expecting a child. This bill will increase equitable access to affordable perinatal health services that will lead to better health outcomes for pregnant people and children. I’m thankful to all of the conferees their hard work, and to Sen. Cindy Friedman for her leadership on the conference committee. I look forward to getting this bill to the Governor’s desk.”
