Senate President Spilka Statement on Rollback of Federal Gender Identity Designations

BOSTON (January 21, 2025) — Senate President Karen E. Spilka (D-Ashland) released the following statement regarding the rollback of gender identity designations on federal documents: 

"Residents deserve the right to be who they are. That was true in 2017 when I introduced gender X identification legislation for the first time, and last year when the Legislature passed the measure in our budget. It remains true today, and it is the law here in Massachusetts."
