Statement from Senate President Karen Spilka on the 2026 Midterm Elections

Yesterday, voters across America sent a powerful message: they are rejecting Donald Trump's policies of division, chaos, and cruelty, and choosing a different path forward. From coast to coast, Americans rejected policies built on fear and resentment and embraced leaders who are focused on lowering costs, protecting our rights, and building a better future for our families.

Here in Massachusetts, I look forward to continuing a strong partnership with the Healey-Driscoll Administration and our federal delegation to make Massachusetts more affordable, more equitable, and a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. I especially want to congratulate the incoming members of the Senate, and I look forward to working with

them as colleagues.

Last night's results are a reminder that our democracy is strongest when people make their voices heard. There is much work ahead, but tonight gives us reason for hope and renewed determination to keep fighting for a future that reflects our shared values.
