REACTION

MA Association of School Superintendents
”A partner since the outset in the quest to fix inequities in the state’s education funding formula, the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents applauds the work of the state legislature in presenting the Student Opportunity Act.”

Fund Our Future
“We are cautiously optimistic about the thoughtful legislation released by the Joint Committee on Education. We need to fully examine the details, of course, but a much deserved victory is within reach for thousands of educators, parents, students, and community members who wrote letters, marched in the streets, and continue to demand quality, well-funded public schools for every student in Massachusetts.”

MA Teachers Association
“The Student Opportunity Act, the education funding bill released today, goes a long way toward achieving what the MTA and its allies in the Fund Our Future coalition sought — a generational investment in public education that helps every district and advances the causes of equity and justice for the districts most in need.”

Boston Teachers Union
“The allocation of this funding through the recently introduced Student Opportunity Act represents a major win for the grassroots coalition of parents, students, community members and unionized teachers who have fought long and hard for these critical reforms.”

MA Education Justice Alliance
“We are glad to see lawmakers listened to our grassroots movement and adopted a full 100% increase for low-income students in the highest need. This will drive hundreds of millions of dollars in funding to underserved students in districts that have desperately needed these resources for decades.”

MA Business Alliance for Education
“…[W]e are very pleased to see that the Student Opportunity Act rightly increases funding for our state’s low-income and English Language Learner students, and also includes some of the accountability MBAE and our partners have been fighting for to ensure the money is used to efficiently and effectively to address the persistent inequity in our schools.”

Citizens for Public Schools
“We applaud the Education Committee for listening to our grass roots movement and for their hard work so far.”
